BIOGAS Power Generation
ESI is widely recognized as an industry leader in delivering cutting-edge technical solutions for biogas power generation.
We design and build systems that deliver onsite renewable energy that is used to power and heat farms and facilities, generate electric power for sales to the electric grid, and support electric power generation utilities.
Onsite biogas power generation plants can be implemented to generate electricity, heat, and/or cooling, and can be utilized by farms and businesses to supply electricity for a variety of applications.
Whether you need an onsite power, heating, or cooling solution; wish to supplement electricity to lower your energy costs; have the need for electricity generation at a remote location; and/or wish to generate electricity to sell to the grid, ESI’s power generation experts can advise you on the optimal solution for your project.

Biogas Power Generation EXPERTISE
-
End-to-End SolutionsESI assists a wide range of stakeholders in achieving their renewable energy goals including municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill, and anaerobic digester (AD) owners, operators, and developers; agricultural and waste industries; and renewable energy end-users including governments and utilities.
Our expert in-house biogas utilization teams can deliver full engineering, procurement, and construction contractor services for complete end-to-end biogas processing and utilization facilities, including power generation, heat generation, and/or cooling systems—or can deliver standalone biogas power generation and biogas CHP solutions that can be integrated with existing biogas facilities and systems. We also routinely perform biogas-fueled power generation facility upgrades and expansions. -
ApplicationsBiogas power plants can be used by farms and businesses to supply their own electricity, heating, and cooling, by employing a variety of technologies:
• Biogas can be utilized for generating electricity through the use of microturbines, reciprocating (combustion) engines, gas turbines, or fuel cells. Biogas has proven itself as a reliable fuel for backup/standby systems, base load, peak shaving, and remote/off-grid power generation.
• Biogas cogeneration or CHP (combined heat & power) utilizes the addition of heat recovery units to capture engine waste heat in the form of steam, hot water, or high temperature air.
• Cooling can also be achieved in the form of cold water or cool air, with the addition of heat conversion adsorption chillers,
• In some cases, high-output facilities produce enough gas to deliver excess generated power to the grid. -
